The Swiss feature film “Aux frontières de la nuit” by Nasser Bakhti (Troubadour Films, Geneva) took home the audience award at the 28th Mostra de Valencia Cinema del Mediterrani (October 17 – 24, 2007). The award comes with a prize sum of 18,000 Euro. Together with “Breakout” by Mike Eschmann (Production: Zodiac Pictures, Lucerne), Nasser’s film was in the running for the audience award along with 21 additional films.
Produced in 2006, the feature film “Aux frontières de la nuit” is a 24-hour portrait of individuals living as social outcasts in the city of Geneva. From different perspectives, it portrays the nightly encounters of an illegal immigrant from Mali, a former student who works as a garbage collector, a female drug addict, and a police team, whose members, torn between prejudice and social responsibility, are contemplating the meaning of their work.
