Swiss participation in “Picture Europe!” tour

Film director Fulvio Bernasconi, from Ticino, will attend the screening of his film “Fuori dalle corde” at the Gloria Filmpalast in Munich on February 24. The screening is held in conjunction with “Picture Europe!”, an event which presents twelve other current productions from European countries together with this Swiss fiction film. This year’s event – with the motto “Let’s see what’s happening at the neighbours’!” – marks the second time that European Film Promotion (EFP) has organized the tour. After the stop in Munich (February 21 – 27), the films will be screened in Copenhagen (March 12 – 18 in Grand Teatret) and Madrid (April 11 – 17 in the Cinemas Princesa).
European Film Promotion, of which SWISS FILMS is a founding member organization, is striving to improve the distribution of European films on the Old Continent with “Picture Europe!” “Every country in Europe has its own stars and its own blockbusters, seldom venturing beyond their respective national borders,” explained EFP. The films on tour are from Switzerland, France, Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Austria, Greece, Germany and Spain.
In 2007, “Fuori dalle corde“ (production: Ventura Film Meride) represented Switzerland in the competition at the International Film Festival Locarno, where leading actor Michele Venitucci was honoured with the Leopard award for “Best Actor”.
