26.01.2010

Three Swiss films will be screened in the international competition of the 32nd International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand (January 29 - February 6, 2010): the films “Des poux dans la paille” by Didier Crepey (Geneva University of Art and Design) and “Les bons garcons” by Antoine Russbach (Institute of Media Arts, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium), both of which are graduation films, as well as the documentary film fake “Ja ja, nein nein” by Peter Volkart and Ulrich Schaffner (Unico Film, Zurich). The three films are among the 78 works from 59 countries in the running for the Grand Prix International 2010.
All of the filmmakers will travel to the capital city of the Auvergne region to present their films personally at the festival. The short film festival in Clermont-Ferrand is regarded as the most important festival in the world for this genre. In addition to the three films screened in the competition, the seven-minute animation film “Trottoir” by Mathieu Epiney will be presented in the programme for school children.

The festival attracts more than 137,000 visitors and is thus an imperative event on the short film scene. Parallel to the festival is the 25th Short Film Market (January 30 - February 5), presenting 6,000 films and hosting 3,000 film professionals from all over the world. The short film department at SWISS FILMS will be present at the festival with an information stand. On Sunday, January 31, they will organise a cocktail hour in honour of the Swiss film productions screened at the festival.
