Born in 1954 in Bern, Switzerland. From 1978-82 he produced and directed commercials for Condor Films in Zurich. In 1982 he cofounded G.L.A.S.S. films in Zurich, with which he developed and directed many international award-winning commercials until 1987. He founded Sidewalk Pictures in New York, pursuing his career as a screenwriter and director. His debut THREE BELOW ZERO (1998) earned critical acclaim at international festivals, winning the Max Ophüls Best Film Prize in Saarbrücken in 2000. Further films followed, including HEADSMEN (2005), released in 32 countries, DINU (2013), NIGHTFALL (2018) and DIARY OF A WOMAN expected for 2024.
