Sophia Farantatou
Screenwriter, Cinematographer, Director
Born in 1987 in Athens, Greece. She graduated with a Bachelor in Sociology in Greece before leaving for Paris where she discovered her passion for documentary filmmaking. She studied at the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, before switching to the Fine Art school of Marseille. The cinema department of HEAD-Genève (Geneva University of Art & Design), discovered her work and proposed her to join the school in order to make a diploma film there. Her graduation film BITTER SEPTEMBER (2022) premiered in International Competition of the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur. She moves between Marseille, Paris and Geneva, in preparation of her debut feature-length documentary.
