A mythical site among the first sanatoriums, Davos was not spared by the rise of Nazism, then the difficult compromises with the major powers during World War Two. This health resort immortalized by Thomas Mann in The Magic Mountain was where the socialists, Nazi dignitaries and American officers mingled in the 1930s and 1940s, and where concentration camp survivors and Nazi war criminals crossed paths after the war. The film explores the director's own story who, in reading her father's letters, learns the reasons for his absences.
