Musician, bandleader, composer, producer, teacher, activist. Bass player Charlie Haden has consistently tried to transcend boundaries for over 60 years. He doesn’t limit himself to specific musical genres but plays the entire gamut, ranging from jazz, pop and the classics, including serious classical contemporary composers. He is admired as one of the best jazz bass players in the world. His “lyric” playing and collaborative strength was particularly recognised in the Ornette Coleman Quartet – the quartet that almost single-handedly gave jazz a new face.
