She plays the role of Laura, the emotionally torn protagonist in “Du bruit dans la tête”, the new film by Vincent Pluss, impressively and with unsettling intensity: 33-year-old Celine Bolomey is one of the ten European Shooting Stars who will be introduced to international representatives of the film industry at the 59th International Film Festival in Berlin 2009 and stand in the limelight at the Berlinale. Convinced by her outstanding acting ability, Switzerland’s film promotion agency SWISS FILMS had placed Celine Bolomey in the running for this coveted award, initiated by European Film Promotion (EFP). An international jury, presided over by film director Marion Hänsel, has selected the best acting talent from all over Europe: Cyron Melville (Denmark), David Kross (Germany), Samuli Vauramo (Finland), Hafsia Herzi (France), Carey Mulligan (Great Britain), Sarah Bolger (Ireland), Alba Caterina Rohrwacher (Italy), Orsi Tóth (Hungary), Verónica Echegui (Spain) and Celine Bolomey (Switzerland).

Swiss talent

Celine Bolomey appeared in front of the film camera for the first time at the age of 10 and, already at the age of 19, went to Belgium to study acting at the I.N.S.A.S. in Brussels. Since then she has performed on stage and in front of the camera in Belgium, France and Switzerland. She has performed in numerous theatre productions on various stages throughout Europe and is currently on tour in France with “Oxygène” and “Genèse n°2” by Ivan Viripaev and directed by Galin Stoev, after having toured in Brussels, Marseille, Rome, Moscow, Ottawa, Montreal and Avignon with these theatre pieces in 2007. Her meeting with the Brazilian director Enrique Diaz will take the actress to Brazil next year. In films she has played the leading role in “AM-PM” (2001) by Francesco Cesalli (2001) and also in two films by Vincent Pluss: “On dirait le Sud” (2002, Swiss Film Prize 2003) and “The Noise In My Head” (Du bruit dans la tête) (2008). She also appeared in “iXième – Journal d’un prisonnier” (2003, Golden Leopard in the Video section in Locarno) by Pierre-Yves Borgeaud and Stéphane Blok. In the British television series “The Hidden City” by Richard Johnson (2001, with Paul Barber and Rebecca Palmer) she played the role of Gabrielle in three episodes. Bolomey lives in Paris and Geneva. Film director Vincent Pluss describes her acting performance in “The Noise In My Head” as follows: “Celine Bolomey has an immediate presence on the screen. She’s an intense actress, very resourceful, generous and authentic. Keenly perceptive, she embodies the multifaceted character of Laura, seething and yet frail. She reveals Laura’s most intimate thoughts to us and brings out the beauty of this average person.”
