Johanna Bantzer, “Straehl” und “Maria Bethânia” in Setúbal (Portugal)

2005 Swiss Shooting Star, Johanna Bantzer, has been invited to attend the 21st Festroia – Festival Internacional de Cinema in Setúbal (Portugal), taking place from May 28 to June 5, 2005. The movie “Straehl” (Production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich), in which Bantzer performs as the drug addict Carol, will be shown in the “First Works” section. The festival, in the coastal city of Setúbal, focuses on films from small European countries. “Maria Bethânia, música é perfume” by Georges Gachot will be screened in the “Panorama” section. Mr. Gachot became well known with his films about pianist Martha Argerich and children’s clinics founder Beat Richner,. His portrait of the legendary Brazilian singer celebrated its world premiere at the international competition in Nyon in April.
The 26-year-old Johanna Bantzer – awarded with the Max Ophuels Prize for “Best New Actress” for her accomplishments in acting at the 2004 Saarbruecken Film Festival and with the 2005 Swiss Film Prize – has been invited to Setúbal along with 8 European colleagues. Their presence marks the opening of this year’s “Shooting Stars” tour. The event has been organized by the European Film Promotion and is in its eighth year. In addition to public presentations of the Shooting Star talents and their movies, the perspectives and challenges of young European actors and actresses will be discussed. The event is hosted by Marisa Cruz who is the 2005 Portuguese Shooting Star.
