More cinema releases of Swiss film productions in Germany
Two Swiss film productions will start in German cinemas in September 2010. As of September 2, the distribution firm Salzgeber & Co (Berlin) will show the kaleidoscopic film portrait “Daniel Schmid – Le chat qui pense” by Benny Jaberg and Pascal Hofmann on German screens.

The film "Daniel Schmid - Le chat qui pense" (production: T&C Film, Zurich) celebrated its world premiere at this year's Berlinale. The film by the two graduates from the Zurich University of the Arts was recently nominated for the First Steps Award, the renowned German award for debut films. Together with this film portrait about the extraordinary Swiss filmmaker, cinemas in Hamburg and Saarbrücken will screen two of Daniel Schmid's well-known films "Zwischensaison" ("Hors Saison") and "Il Bacio di Tosca."
The protagonists in the film "Guru - Bhagwan, His Secretary & His Bodyguard" accompanied Bhagwan's rise as a guru the 1970s: Hugh was his bodyguard and Sheela his personal secretary and head of Bhagwan's model commune. The documentary film illustrates how their dream became a nightmare and has already attracted more than 20,000 viewers in Switzerland. The distribution of "Guru ..." in German cinemas was subsidised by the Federal Office of Culture and SWISS FILMS with EUR 15,000.
These two releases of Swiss film productions in Germany carries forward a series that began in May 2010 with: "Tandoori Love" by Oliver Paulus; "Marcello Marcello" by Denis Rabaglia; "Rocksteady - The Roots of Reggae" by Stascha Bader; "Breath Made Visible" by Ruedi Gerber; "Space Tourists" by Christian Frei; and "Der grosse Kater." In less than five months a total of eight Swiss film productions were screened in German cinemas.
