Strong Festival Month of June for Swiss Short Films

At several short film festivals in New York/Brooklyn (June 3-12), Hamburg (June 8-13), Huesca, Spain (June 9-18), and Rome (June 17-23), a total of nine Swiss short films will be shown. This strong international presence provides evidence of the quality and variety of Swiss short filmmaking.
At the 8th International Film Festival in Brooklyn, New York, the winner of the 2005 Swiss Film Prize “Chyenne” by Alexander Meier (Production: Fama Film, Zurich), will be part of the competition. Also part of the program will be the two animated movies “Herr Würfel “ by Rafael Sommerhalder (Freihändler Production, Basel), and “Banquise” by Claude Barras.
The 21st Short Film Festival Hamburg will be screening “Dance of Freedom”in the German competition by director Ariane Kessissoglou, who is German but lives in Switzerland. In addition, the Children’s Short Film Festival, taking place at the same time, will be showing the animated movie “Die kleine Monsterin” by Ted Sieger.
“Hoi Maya” by Claudia Lorenz, which is her diploma film for the Zurich University of Art and Design (HGKZ), and “Promis Juré“ by Pauline Karli Gygax and Tanoa Despland (Rita Productions, Geneva), represent Switzerland at the international competition of the 33rd Film Festival in Huesca, Spain.
The Roman short film festival Archipelago will be presenting four short films from Switzerland: in the international competition, award-winning movies “Chyenne” and “Hoi Maya” as well as “Come Closer” by Pierre Monnard will be shown. In addition, the eleven-minute-long movie “Due Tempi” by Patricia Boillat and Elena Gugliuzza will participate in the Italian competition. This film was produced by the studio La Boite Visual Art.
