Strong Swiss presence at the European Film Festival in Sevilla

At this year’s Festival de Cine Europeo y Contemporáneo, taking place in Sevilla (Spain) for the third time from November 3-11, 2006, Swiss filmmaking will again be strongly represented. In the international competition, with awards totaling 120,000 Euro, the feature film «Comme des voleurs – (A l’Est)» by Lionel Baier (Production: Saga Productions, Lausanne) is among the 17selected films. In the «Europa_Europa» section, with an audience award of 60,000 Euro to be bestowed, the Swiss co-produced films «Spiele Leben/You Bet Your Life» by Antonin Svoboda (Triluna Films, Zurich), and «La stella che non c’é/The Missing Star» by Gianni Amelio (Carac Film, Bern) will be shown. In the Eurodoc-competition with a main prize sum of 30,000 Euro, the Swiss documentary film «A Crude Awakening – The Oil Crash» by Basil Gelpke and Ray McCormack will be presented.
On the occasion of the meeting of this year’s Shooting Stars, with its Swiss representative Carlos Leal in attendance, the film «Snow White» (directed by Samir and produced by Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) will be screened. As part of the festival, which is one of the most important events for European film, nominations for the European Film Award will announced, while the award ceremony will take place in Warsaw on December 2.
