Strong Swiss presence in Warsaw – prospect for the Millennium Award
Thomas Imbach’s “Day Is Done” and Daniel von Aarburg’s “Hugo Koblet – Pédaleur de charme” (production: Maximage, Zurich) will be competing in the main competition for the Millennium Award at the 8th Planete Doc Film Festival in Warsaw (May 6-15, 2011).

"Goodnight Nobody" will be presented in two other competitions and is thus in the running for the Magic Hour Award and the Canon Cinematography Award. Both Jacqueline Zünd, director of "Goodnight Nobody," and Thomas Imbach, director of "Day Is Done," will present their films personally at the festival.
The strong Swiss presence in Warsaw is rounded off with the documentary film "Sira - Wenn der Halbmond spricht" by Sandra Gysi and Ahmed Abdel Moshen - currently being screened in Toronto as well - and the two Swiss coproductions "David Wants To Fly" by David Sieveking (coproduction: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) and "Im Haus meines Vaters sind viele Wohnungen" by Hajo Schomerus (coproduction: T&C Film, Zurich).
Swiss film productions are gaining ever more attention in the Polish capital city. Two years ago Peter Liechti was honoured with the Millennium Award of the Planete Doc Film Festival for his film "The Sound Of Insects." Last year in October nine Swiss film productions and coproductions were screened at this major international film festival.
Within just eight years the Planete Doc Film Festival in Warsaw has evolved into one of the most interesting platforms for the documentary film genre in Eastern Europe.
