Georges is the author of a series of novels depicting the heroic life of a seafaring captain in the swashbuckling days of old, in constant pursuit of a lady friend by the name of Jeanne. After nine volumes and countless adventures, tired of chasing the lady who always fails to appear at the appointed time and place, the Captain invades the world of his creator, appearing and disappearing in the author's flat in the company of a motley crew of colourful characters encountered on his adventures. Eventually the Captain asserts himself as the author's conscience, alter-ego an veritable double, and begins interfering in his real life… Love and desire, fantasy and high comedy are the driving forces of this modern fable, whose characters live permanently in a dreamlike state, which some may find contagious.
