Richard Dindo's film vividly recreates a dark period in Mexican history, one that has left an indelible mark on its people. In the summer of 1968, students from all over Mexico converged on the capital, demanding democracy. But with the Olympic Games due to take place there later that year, the government turns to violence, shooting and torturing students. On October 2, a new demonstration protesting the government's actions takes place, but this time, the repercussions are even greater, and the army kills up to 300 people. Archive footage and eyewitness accounts complete the film's account of the brutal massacre, and illustrate why it is impossible for the Mexican people to forgive and forget.

Il film è la vivida ricostruzione di un periodo nero nella storia del Messico, che lasciò un segno indelebile nel suo popolo. Nell’estate del 1968 studenti di tutto il paese confluirono nella capitale e scesero in piazza per chiedere democrazia; poiché poco più tardi la città avrebbe ospitato le Olimpiadi, il governo optò per la linea violenta, aprendo il fuoco sugli studenti e torturandoli. Il 2 ottobre 1968 venne organizzata una nuova dimostrazione di protesta contro le scelte governative, e quella volta la repressione fu ancora più dura: trecento persone caddero sotto i colpi dell’esercito. Sequenze d’archivio e racconti di testimoni oculari completano il resoconto del film su quel brutale massacro, spiegando perché i messicani non possono perdonare né dimenticare.
