Togni’s film is about two men who have both recently left prison and are in the process of reintegrating into society. Mr R., 47 years old is French, but grew up in the US. After five years of waiting in prison for his trial due to cocaine possession, he agrees to a final deportation to France, leaving behind all of his family. Mr D., 28 years old and French, grew up in an orphanage in Amiens, and served eight years for manslaughter. Hotel Longtemps is the story of two very different men united by one experience. Togni accompanies as they search for work and documents their steps as they move from prison to a new life, which needs to be built up from scratch again.
Il Signor R., 47 anni, francese, è cresciuto negli Stati Uniti, dove si era formato una famiglia. Dopo cinque anni passati in carcere in attesa di un processo per possesso di cocaina, ha accettato infine l’espulsione definitiva verso la Francia. In America ha lasciato la madre, due figli, una fidanzata. Il Signor D., 28 anni, francese, cresciuto in un orfanotrofio ad Amiens, sta scontando otto anni di carcere a Parigi per un omicidio commesso per futili motivi. “Hôtel Longtemps” è la storia di queste due persone con un vissuto e una personalità molto diversi, ma con una terribile esperienza in comune: entrambi hanno vissuto il carcere e ambedue sono in procinto di essere reinseriti nella società. Il documentario vuole mostrare queste due persone nel delicato periodo che segue la scarcerazione e ha l’intenzione di seguirli fino a quando non avranno trovato un lavoro. Scopo del film è documentare proprio il passaggio fra il dentro (il carcere), e il fuori, mettendo in risalto l’inizio di una libertà fisicamente conquistata, ma di fatto tutta da costruire.
