Shortly before her most important swimming competition, thirteen-year-old Nino discovers something new about herself: she is menstruating for the first time. Against the backdrop of the patriarchal society in Georgia, her coach prevents her from taking part, claiming that the female body is not up to high-performance sport. Nino feels betrayed by her coach and her body.
