After a language study trip to New York, a 16-year-old girl from Appenzell gives birth to a child conceived with an African-American man. The black baby girl is immediately given up for adoption. At the age of eight, the girl named Jacqueline, realizes that she was born into the wrong body. She now knows “I AM A BOY”. As Jeremy, she embarks on a long journey of self-discovery for an identity as a man, characterized by inner turmoil.
Dopo un soggiorno linguistico a New York, una sedicenne dell'Appenzello (Svizzera) dà alla luce un bambino concepito con un uomo afroamericano. Il bambino viene immediatamente dato in adozione. All'età di otto anni, la bambina di nome Jacqueline si rende conto di essere nata nel corpo sbagliato. Ora sa di essere un maschio. Come Jeremy, intraprende una lunga ricerca di identità, caratterizzata da turbolenze interiori, drammi e conflitti.
