Kohler’s film is about 13 men of very different backgrounds and ages from Quebec, France, Belgium and Switzerland. The only thing they actually have in common is a desire to explore their masculine identity, and they do so during a two week trek on foot through the Tunisian desert. The men speak honestly and at length about how they see themselves as fathers, about their relationships with women and their mothers, and open up on sexuality, power, aggression, fear and competitive behaviour. Kohler accompanies them on as their experience becomes an absorbing debate on the changing role of men in today’s society.
