This film takes us to some very different places all over the world in its investigation of the legacy of the celebrated Swiss educationalist. First to “Pestalozzi City” a small Japanese city. Then to the “Pestalozzi Children’s Village” in the south of England, itself based on one at Trogen in Switzerland. Next to a spiritualist “Pestalozzi Foundation” in southern Brazil. And finally to “Monsieur Pestalozzi” in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. The commentary for this world tour is provided by no less than Pestalozzi himself, both puzzled and amused to see what is being done in his name… all the while secretly wondering if there might not be some way to get down off his pedestal.
