Geneviève and Paul have been in love for seven years. At last Geneviève is pregnant, to the delight of all around her. But eleven weeks into her pregnancy, Geneviève throws herself under a car to save a little girl from an accident. The doctors manage to save her baby, Oscar, but have to remove Geneviève’s uterus and quickly place the baby in an artificial uterus developed by Professors Boivin and Masson. Since it’s a first, the two professors are not sure of the outcome and the experiment is conducted in secrecy. Oscar is doing well, but news of the experiment comes to light and leads to a debate on the pros and cons of this particular aspect of scientific progress. Despite the uncertainty and the various questions involved, the parents decide to go ahead with the experiment. Will Oscar make it to the world of the living?
