The film aims to portray the deep change brought on by the sexual revolution and the feminist movement in Italy during the 1960s and 1970s, visually supported by archival footage of the period, drawn from the most varied sources. The film looks again at recent events from a female point of view, through the first-hand accounts provided by the diaries of three women. The Italy in which these stories unfolded is not as distant in time as it may seem, and its cultural and social conquests not as firmly rooted as one would think. By focusing on the battle for women’s rights in Italy, the film addresses the struggles for equal rights worldwide, past and present, in the belief that no battle won can be taken for granted forever.

Il film racconta il profondo cambiamento portato dalla liberazione sessuale e dal movimento femminista in Italia a cavallo tra gli anni sessanta e settanta, attraverso archivi filmati dell’epoca, provenienti dalle fonti più diverse. Il film si propone di raccontare fatti della Storia recente con l’originalità di uno sguardo ‘al femminile’ su vicende che videro protagoniste proprio le donne. Storie personali di lotte di donne in un’Italia che sembra più lontana di quanto non sia e che si vorrebbe capace di non dimenticare il suo passato e alcune tappe della sua crescita culturale e civile. Ma anche un modo per guardare, attraverso la particolarità del caso italiano, la storia delle lotte delle donne dovunque ci siano o ci siano state, con la convinzione che non bisogna mai dare per acquisita nessuna conquista.
