A Swiss mountain village is thrust into the international spotlight when, shortly before the start of construction of a controversial holiday resort, the daughter of the Arab investor disappears without a trace. The local police officer Rosa Wilder, who grew up in the village, is supposed to find her. Together with the federal criminal investigator Manfred Kägi, she uncovers a dark secret that has been festering under the surface of the valley for years and has more in common with her own history than she thinks.
