The short documentary film “Le printemps de Saint Ponç” by Eugenia Mumenthaler and David Epiney was honoured with the 2nd prize in the Documentary Film category at the 14th Palm Springs International ShortFest (August 21-27, 2008). The prize amounted to 500 dollars. Tobias Nölle’s “René” won the award for "Most Surprising Film", amounting to 2,000 euros, at the 23rd Odense Film Festival (August 19-24).
The jury of the Danish short film festival stated the following in its laudation for the 30-minute short film: “The director uses his craft and skills to make us care for the slightly odd protagonist – without falling for obvious stereotypes or predictable storylines“. Tobias Nölle has already won numerous awards for “René”, with Urs Jucker in the leading role, in Locarno, Winterthur, Tampere (Finland) and Clermont-Ferrand (France).

The 20-minute documentary film “Le printemps de Saint Ponç", which tells stories by mentally disabled people with drawings and animated paintings, won awards in Barcelona, Bilbao and Madrid (Spain) and in Paris last year.
