Hit film “More Than Honey” scores worldwide

The multi-award-winning Swiss documentary film “More Than Honey” is attracting ever more attention beyond Europe and making excellent progress in North and South America, Asia and Australia.

The multi-award-winning Swiss documentary film “More Than Honey” is attracting ever more attention beyond Europe and making excellent progress in North and South America, Asia and Australia. At present it is being presented at film festivals in Hong Kong, Vilnius, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Oslo and Washington D.C., and has already been screened in cinemas in 28 countries.

Since its premiere on the Piazza Grande in Locarno in August 2012, Markus Imhoof’s documentary film “More Than Honey” has pursued an exceptional career at festivals and in cinemas. With ticket sales amounting in Switzerland to approximately 220,000, it is the most frequently seen Swiss documentary film and currently ranks number 12 as the most successful Swiss film production in cinemas since 1975. Imhoof has attended numerous premieres to introduce his film personally at festivals and cinemas. The film has captured the attention of both the press and the public.

Hong Kong, Vilnius, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Oslo and Washington
The film “More Than Honey” is being screened at the same time at the following festivals: the 37th Hong Kong International Film Festival (March 17-April 2); the 18th Vilnius International Film Festival (March 14-28); the 15 th Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival (March 15-24), the 17th Sofia International Film Festival (March 7-17); the European Documentary Film Festival in Oslo (March 13-17); and at the 21st Environment Film Festival Washington D.C. (March 12-24). “More Than Honey” has already attracted a great deal of attention at major international festivals in Toronto, Amsterdam, Palm Springs and Berlin.

Theatrical releases in Europe, Brazil, Taiwan and USA
The World Sales of “More Than Honey” have run very well. The Swiss-German-Austrian coproduction was launched in cinemas throughout almost all of Europe, as well as in Brazil, Taiwan and the USA. By now, the documentary film has been screened in cinemas in 28 countries. The multi-award-winning film ­– Bavarian Film Award, Zurich Film Prize, Best Documentary at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, USA, among others – has been nominated for the Swiss Film Prize and for the Prix Walo. 

“Das Boot ist voll”
Markus Imhoof’s documentary and fiction films have been successful: his fiction film “Das Boot ist voll” (1981) was nominated for an Oscar and ranks among the 20 most frequently seen Swiss film productions (since 1975), with ticket sales amounting to approximately 160,000.
