Homage to CAB Productions at Pontarlier

31.10.2008

The 66th Rencontre internationale de cinéma de Pontarlier (F) will honour the work of the two independent film producers Gérard Ruey and Jean-Louis Porchet, CAB Productions in Lausanne. Twenty films will be presented between November 4-11, 2008, with the two producers and the film directors in attendance at Théâtre Bernard Blier in Pontarlier. The audience will have the opportunity to discover “Luftbusiness”, the most recent film by Dominique de Rivaz as well as her previous film “Jagged Harmonies – Bach vs. Frederick II” (2003), among others. The screening of the short films “Icebergs” by Germinal Roaux and “Viandes” (2001) by Bruno Deville represents the role of CAB Productions in their discovery and support of young talented filmmakers. The film promotion agency SWISS FILMS is co-partner of the festival.
Jean-Louis Porchet and Gérard Ruey, who have been active in the Swiss film industry since the 1970s, founded CAB Productions in 1984 and went on to produce several dozen fiction, documentary and short films, including such works as “One Long Winter Without Fire” by Greg Zglinski – with an award in Venice as well as with the Swiss Film Prize 2004 – or “La Guerre dans le Haut-Pays” by Francis Reusser (1998). This production film firm in Lausanne has also co-produced numerous films abroad, some of which include: “Trois couleurs: Bleu, Blanc, Rouge” (1992-93), the trilogy by the Polish film director Krzysztof Kieslowski, and “Nightcap” (2000) by Claude Chabrol.

Together with the films mentioned above, the following fiction films will also be screened at “Rencontres de Pontarlier”: “Paul s’en va” (2003) by Alain Tanner; “Les anges” (1990) by Jacob Berger; “La méridienne” (1988) by Jean-François Amiguet; as well as the following documentary films: “Alain Tanner, pas comme si, comme ça” by Pierre Maillard; “Return To Gorée” by Pierre-Yves Borgeaud; and “Béjart into the Light” by Marcel Schüpbach. All directors will attend the festival.
