International Premiere of “Garçon stupide” at Munich Filmfest

21.06.2004

The feature film debut “Garçon stupide” (“Stupid Boy”) by young Lausanne director Lionel Baier (Saga Production Lausanne) will be screening in the international program at the 22nd Munich Filmfest, which takes places from June 26 – July 3, 2004. Also participating in the second largest film festival in Germany after Berlin will be “Vodka Lemon” by Armenian director Hiner Saleem, a film co-produced by Ticino production company Amka Films.
In “Garçon stupide” Lionel Baier tells the story of Loic, no longer a teenager and not yet an adult who is confusing desire and joy, friendship and sexuality, and admiration and success. After “Des épaules solides“ (“Strong Shoulders”) by Ursula Meier and “On Dirait le Sud” (“South of the Clouds”) by Vincent Pluss, this film is among a series of low budget productions made in the French part of Switzerland which are dedicated explicitly to a documentary aesthetic.

The Munich Filmfest, this year under the sole direction of Andreas Ströhl, does not include an international competition. However, the Bavarian Broadcast Corporation bestows an audience award, and the participating films are enjoying the attention of numerous media representatives and film critics flocking to Munich.
