Locarno 2013: Amka Films and Ventura Film honoured with award

The winners of the Premio Cinema Ticino, awarded at the Festival del Film Locarno, goes to the production companies Amka Films and Ventura Film. This year marks the third presentation of the award endowed with CHF 30,000.

The winners of the Premio Cinema Ticino, awarded at the Festival del Film Locarno, goes to the production companies Amka Films and Ventura Film. This year marks the third presentation of the award endowed with CHF 30,000.

Tiziana Soudani and Mohammed Soudani (Amka Films Productions) as well as Elsa Guidinetti and Andres Pfaeffli (Ventura Film) were honoured ex aequo with the Premio Cinema Ticino on the Piazza Grande in Locarno on August 14, 2013. Councillor Manuele Bertoli presented the award, endowed with a total of CHF 30,000, to the two Ticino production companies. The award pays tribute to the cinematic work of a personality or company from Ticino.

“L’ intervallo” and “Le quattro volte”
In conjunction with the award, the 66th Festival del Film Locarno will screen the fiction film “L’intervallo” (director: Leonardo Di Costanzo), coproduced by Amka Films, and “Le quattro volte” (director: Michelangelo Frammartino), the coproduction by Ventura Film. Member of this year’s jury included: Alberto Chollet, Federico Jolli, Frédéric Maire, Antonio Mariotti and David Streiff.

The award was initiated in 2009 by the Ticino cantonal government and the Film festival in Locarno and is presented every two years. In 2009 cinematographer Renato Berta was honoured with the award; in 2011 director, screenwriter and producer Villi Hermann.
