21.06.2006

At the 28th Moscow International Film Festival, taking place from June 23 to July 2, 2006, the Swiss comedy “Mein Name ist Eugen” (My name is Eugene) by Michael Steiner (Production: Kontraproduktion and C-Films, Zurich) will be shown as part of the “National Hits” series. Since its theatrical release in September 2005, approximately 575,000 viewers have seen the film in the German, French, and Italian-speaking parts of Switzerland. The Moscow International Film Festival is one of 12 FIAPF-accredited (International Federation of Film Producers Association) feature film festivals with a competition section (“A” category).
After an extraordinarily successful movie theatre run in Switzerland, which placed “Mein Name ist Eugen” in second place of all-time Swiss movie hits after “Die Schweizermacher/The Swissmakers”, the film has received great interest abroad as well. In March it won the Grand Prize at the International Children’s Film Festival in Montreal, and in May it was screened as part of the “Cinemas of the World” program in Cannes. In Germany, the Swiss movie hit will be released with 150 copies in January 2007.
