11.03.2009

The seven-minute cartoon film “Die Seilbahn” by the directing duo Claudius Gentinetta & Frank Braun received the NFB Award at the 12th International Children’s Film Festival in Montreal (28 February to 8 March 2009). The prize bears the name of the national film promotion institute - National Film Board of Canada. The international jury is made up of five film professionals who chose the prize winner from eleven films.
The cartoon film portraying the passage of a cable railway ravaged by weather and rust and ist passenger, convinced the festival jury through the “technical quality of the cartoons. The soundtrack and the sound effects make a successful contribution to the tension in this short story of survival told with finesse”.

A further three Swiss cartoon films were shown at the “Festival international des films pour enfants de Montréal (FIFEM)”: “La main de l’ours” by Marina Rosset, “No Penguin’s Land” by Marcel Barelli and “Signalis” by Adrian Flückiger.
