“Pas douce” wins Grand Prix in Umea (Sweden)

At the 22nd edition of the Umea International Film Festival, the 45-year-old Basel resident Jeanne Waltz was awarded the Grand Prix for her feature film debut “Pas douce/A Parting Shot” (Production: Prince Film, Geneva). The award, which comes with a prize sum of 50,000 Swedish krona (approximately 9,000 CHF), was given to the director in the north Swedish university town on September 23, 2007. Waltz was in attendance at the event and personally accepted the award.
The 4-member international jury unanimously voted for Jeanne Waltz’ film and stated that “for its full command of the craft of filmmaking, for well-developed characters and original storyline pursued through precise and fine-tuned acting, for its hyperrealist aesthetics enabling the exploration of both outer and inner worlds, the jury unanimous decided to award Jeanne Waltz for her film “A Parting Shot”.



“Pas douce” celebrated its premiere at the Berlinale in February 2007, and in April won the Distribution Award the the IndieLisboa Festival in Lisboa, Portugal, In May, the film took home the FIPRESCI prize at the San Francisco International Film Festival. It will be released in German-speaking movie theatres in Switzerland on September 27 (Distribution: Frenetic).
