The 34th Festival de cine in Huesca (Aragón, Spain), taking place from June 8-17, 2006, presents seven short films from Switzerland in its competition programs. In the international competition section, «Visite médicale» (Medical visit) by Feliz von Muralt (Waka Films, Pregassona), «Virgin Red» by Edouard Getaz, «Frohe Ostern/Happy Easter» by Ulrich Schaffner, «Riza Kaptan/Captain Riza» by Tolga Dilsiz (both School of Art and Design, Zurich), and «Herr Goldstein» (Mr. Goldstein) by Micha Lewinsky (Lang Film, Freienstein) will be shown. In the Latinamerican competition section, the Swiss-Argentinian short film «Amancay» by Milagros Mumenthalter (Bordu Films, Geneva) will be presented. Together with 19 additional productions, «Wir sind dir treu» (We will be faithful to you) by Michael Koch will be featured in the «European Documentary Film» section.
The festival taking place in Aragón is one of the most important Spanish short film festivals. In its three competition sections, prizes in the amount of 40,000 Euro will be bestowed. In addition, award-winning films will be eligible for an Oscar nomination.

For the recently completed short film «Virgin Red», this is the first invitation to an international festival, while «Visite médicale» – with Carlos Leal in the main role – was recently shown in Cannes as part of the «All the Cinemas of the World» program. «Frohe Ostern/Happy Easter», «Herr Goldstein», and «Wir sind dir treu» (which has also been invited to the Worldwide Short Film Festival in Toronto taking place in mid-June) are continuing their successful and award-winning festival tours. «Riza Kaptan/Captain Riza», about the hopelessness of a Bosporus ferryman, will participate at the «Cinema Joven» International Film Festival in Valencia (Spain) in mid-June, after having had a showing in Biarritz earlier this year.
