Swiss short films in Hamburg and Huesca

At the 23rd International Short Film Festival Hamburg (June 6 – 11, 2007), a total of eight Swiss films will be shown – among them “Lauberhornrennen im Sommer/Downhill Skiing In Summer” by Daniel Zimmermann, and “Twist” by Alexia Walther in the international competition. At the Huesca International Film Festival, which is taking place in the Spanish town of Huesca from June 7 – 16, 2007, five Swiss productions will be presented, among them three in the short film competition.
In competition at Huesca are the short films “Nachtflattern/Nightfluttering”, which is Carmen Stadler’s diploma film for the School of Art and Design Zurich (HGKZ), “Nouvel Ordre” by Jean-Daniel Schneider, Gregory Bindschedler, and Ausonio Tavares De Sousa, a director-trio who received their training at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts (ESBA) in Geneva, as well as “Rachel” by Paris resident Frédéric Mermoud, who is originally from the Valais Swiss region. In addition, the award-winning feature film “Fraulein” by Andrea Staka, and HGKZ-diploma film “Willy” by Luzius Wespe will be screened at the festival.



The International Short Film Festival Hamburg, which is closely connected to the Short Film Agency Hamburg, and counts, along with Oberhausen, as one of the most important short film festivals in Germany, presents to its audience a broad spectrum of Swiss short filmmaking. Aside from participating in the international competition, the film “Lauberhornrennen im Sommer/ Downhill Skiing In Summer” along with “Willy” will also screen in the Children’s Film Competition. In the NoBudget competition, the experimental documentary film “Infinity” by Mai Yamashita will be shown, while the German-Swiss co-production “Beckenrand/Poolside” by Michael Koch will be presented in the German competition. The special program “20 Jahre Flotter Dreier”, a “best of show” series of the festival’s amateur and professional productions up to three minutes, will screen former Swiss contributions “Fuck die Scheisse” by Susanne and Urs Hofer (1998), and “Defensiver Mittelfeldmann” by Kyros Kikos (2005). Finally, the special program “Work in Progress” will present the short animated film “Recycled Planets” by Mojgan Ghabaatgar and Jeanine Reutemann.
