Switzerland at Schwerin Art of Film Festival – Golden Ox for Bruno Ganz

At the 16th Schwerin Art of Film Festival (Germany), taking place from May 3-7, 2006, Switzerland is represented in the festival competition with the film «Nachbeben» (Aftershock) by Stina Werenfels (Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion, Zurich). Also shown in the feature film competition will be the German production «Rose» by Swiss director Alain Gsponer. In the short film competition, «Frohe Ostern/Happy Easter» by Ulrich Schaffner, and «Wir sind dir true» (We are faithful to you) by Michael Koch will be featured. Actor Bruno Ganz will be honored with the «Golden Ox» as one of the most outstanding German-speaking television and stage actors.
This year’s festival homage is dedicated to Bruno Ganz. On May 7th, he will be presented with the «Golden Ox» by Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Regional Prime Minister Dr. Harald Ringstorff. The laudatory speech will be given by Ivo Kummer, director of the Solothurn Film Festival and jury member of the Schwerin feature film competition.



The festival’s feature film competition focuses on debut productions of young and up-and-coming directors. Stina Werenfels will be in attendance for the screening of her film. In the past, Swiss award winners were «Im Nordwind/North Wind» (2005) by Bettina Oberli, «Straehl» (2004) by Manuel Flurin Hendry, «Ernstfall in Havanna/Crisis in Havana» (2003) by Sabine Boos, and «Azurro» (2001) by Denis Rabaglia.
