11.10.2006

The “Festa internazionale del cinema die Roma”, taking place for the first time from October 13 – 21, 2006, has been highly anticipated by film professionals, by the media, and by the Roman public alike. The festival sites include several prestigious Roman cultural centers, such as the Casa del Cinema, the Casa delle Literature, and the Casa del Jazz, along with 40 movie theatres throughout the city. The “Parco della Musica” auditorium serves as location for the “Alice nella città” section, which is dedicated to the youngest audience and features Fredi M. Murer’s film “Vitus” on October 19. It is the film’s first screening in Italy.
The movie hit “Vitus” has already been shown at the Berlinale, the Locarno International Film Festival, the Festival des Film du Monde in Montreal, and at the International Film Festival in San Sebastian. It is the Swiss hopeful for a nomination for the 2007 Oscar for Best Foreign Film, as well as for the 2006 European Film Prize (Production: FMM & Hugofilm, Zurich). In honor of director Fredi M. Murer, who will be in attendance in Rome along with Swiss Federal councilor Pascal Couchepin, the Istituto Svizzero will hold a reception, in cooperation with the Swiss Embassy in Rome and SWISS FILMS.
