Born in 1963 in Skopje, Macedonia (former-Yugoslavia). Joint Swiss and Macedonian citizenship. 1983-88 Studies directing at the Lodz Film School. 1988-2004 Lives in the USA. 1992-95 Assistant Professor of film directing at Tisch School of the Arts, New York. 1992 founding member of New York Film Academy and its Paris branch in 1998. 1995-99 Visiting Professor at the HFF (Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film) Munich. 1998-2008 Associate Professor, film production and directing, University of Texas in Austin.
