The theatrical releases in Germany of the Swiss documentary films “Guru – Bhagwan, His Secretary & His Bodyguard” by Sabine Gisiger and Beat Häner, “Rocksteady – The Roots of Reggae” by Stascha Bader, “sounds and silence – Unterwegs mit Manfred Eicher” by Peter Guyer and Norbert Wiedmer along with “Space Tourists” by Christian Frei will be supported with a total of 38,000 Euro (52,000 CHF). The cinematic distribution in France of the documentary films “Cleveland versus Wall Street – Mais mit dä Bänkler” by Jean-Stéphane Bron and “Toumast – entre guitare et Kalashnikov” by Dominique Margot as well as “Guru” in Austria will be supported with an additional 35,500 Euro (48,000 CHF). During its second distribution meeting in July, the committee responsible granted export promotions for six Swiss films to foreign distributors. With this tool, SWISS FILMS – in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office of Culture – increases the likelihood for the films’ successes abroad.

Since 2007, SWISS FILMS has promoted the export of Swiss films and majority co-productions for theatrical distribution abroad. A total of 300,000 CHF are available to support export projects. Foreign distributors, which bring Swiss films to movie screens, will receive a total of 25,000 Euro (40,000 CHF) per film and per country. Distributors from MEDIA member countries have priority for receiving grants, while the funding cannot be combined with other MEDIA contributions.

Members of the "Utilization and Diversity" committee, presided over by Carola Stern (Cobra Film, Zurich) are: Frank Braun (movie theatre Riff Raff, Zurich), Laurent Dutoit (Agora Films, Geneva), and Cyril Thursten (Xenix Film Distribution, Zurich). SWISS FILMS and the Swiss Federal Office of Culture serve in an advisory role. The grants are awarded in four rounds (March, June, September, December).
