Ettore Cella, born in 1913, is a man of culture in the widest possible sense who while playing a central role in the cultural life of German-speaking Switzerland has served throughout his long life as a spokesman for the culture of his Italian roots. He also played a pioneering role in the development of Swiss television from its infancy. Actor, director and writer, he has been active in the theatre, filmmaking, opera and radio, being still much sought after and appreciated as an actor at the age of 88.
