Three Swiss documentary films will be screened in the main programme at the 25th International Festival of Audiovisual Programs FIPA in Biarritz (January 23-29, 2012): “Bouton” by Res Balzli; “Carte blanche” by Heidi Specogna; and “Marcel Ophüls et Jean-Luc Godard, la rencontre de St-Gervais” by Frédéric Choffat and Vincent Lowy. Nine further documentary films from Switzerland will be presented at the FIPATEL film market, which runs parallel to the festival and is one of the most important platforms for the sale of independent productions to television.

The film "Bouton," which celebrated its premiere one year ago at the Solothurn Film Festival, accompanies a young actress who is seriously ill together with her self-made doll during the final stages of her life. The film was honoured with the People's Choice Award at the Montreal International Documentary Film Festival in November 2011. "Carte blanche" premiered last year at the Locarno International Film Festival in conjunction with a special screening. It won the award for Best German Documentary Film at the Duisburger Filmwoche 2011. The film portrays the investigators' work for the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
For their film "Marcel Ophüls et Jean-Luc Godard ...," Frédéric Choffat and Vincent Lowy filmed the dialogue between two icons in the history of film when they met at the Theater Saint-Gervais in Geneva on October 31, 2009.

The numerous buyers for television attending the festival in Biarritz have the opportunity to discover nine further Swiss film productions at the FIPATEL film market, including "Messies, ein schönes Chaos" by Ulrich Grossenbacher and "Darwin" by Nick Brandestini, both of which have attracted a great deal of attention at international festivals.
