After returning to Japan for business, Masahiro persuades his reluctant German wife Sandra to start a new life with him. Soon, he is haunted by disturbing dreams and becomes convinced he was a violent samurai in a former life. A mysterious legend about a hidden grave in the Aokigahara forest promises relief from his growing guilt. Determined to find it, he takes Sandra on a journey into the forest – but when a life-threatening incident forces them back, Masahiro confronts a long-suppressed childhood trauma that reveals the true source of his torment. The film blends psychological drama with animated dream sequences inspired by anime.
