Born in Solothurn, Switzerland. After training as a stage designer at the Stadttheater Basel and the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Munich came theatre work for various stages, as well as street theatre and performances. Trained in camera work, directing, editing and production at the Scope-Film group in Frankfurt. She made some 40 documentaries for ZDF and ARD. Since 1975 she has worked independently in the fields of screenwriting, film directing, documentaries, art and experimental film, features, journalism and photography. 1993-2005 Llives and works mainly in Mexico and Guatemala. 2006 Returns to Switzerland, works in Zurich. Her films and her rich photographic oeuvre have received several awards.
