Born in 1965 in Lausanne, Switzerland. He has a Bachelor in Literature from University of Geneva and a photography diploma from CEEP in Vevey. Present in Berlin when the Wall fell in 1989, he moved to Russia at the end of 1991, collaborating with the Zurich-based photo agency LOOKAT. In 1995, he founded Mayak-Film in Moscow and began working extensively with Swiss television, ARD, ZDF, France 2, and the BBC. From 2005 onwards, he worked as a director of photography on political documentaries. After spending 10 years in Zurich and working on numerous TV series projects around the world, moved back to Moscow and began working on personal documentary projects. He returned to Switzerland in 2018 and in 2022 received the Swiss Film Award for the documentary OSTROV, made with Svetlana Rodina.
